If Wine becomes Inspiration..

..if wine becomes inspiration, don’t fight it, close your eyes and write down your feelings. Some folks are good with tasting notes, some others prefer telling stories through blog posts, pictures, videos.. lately I am writing songs, I have nothing to show yet, but I am working on it.

After a couple of months not writing on my blog I feel a bit guilty, especially looking at the number of people still visiting my blog every day.. What can I say? I still have projects on my mind and TrendyVino is going to explore new worlds and wines in spring/summer, I want to find out what’s going on in Asia, I got the feeling there’s a lot to tell and will definitely come back with some interesting stories.

My last findings? I have been in Austria for New Year’s Eve and I was impressed by Gruener Veltliner, a very mineral and elegant white (and I am a Red Wine Lover :))..

Sooo.. TrendyVino is still alive, just slower due to the new job, but making plans for the future!

Fly high, drink better.. 🙂

Wine Boats in Zürich

Zürich, 4-18 November 2010 by Ivano Martignetti

the flag

For those who still ignore how cool Zürich is, I suggest to pay a visit to ExpoVina next year, a wine event different from the others and.. trendy, yes, we can definitely define trendy sipping selected wines from 10 Countries on 9 different boats, with the lights of the city and the river pier making it very special for the visitors.

While you’re jumping from boat to boat, give yourself a treat with a special dinner, on the upper deck of one of the 3 boats dedicated to food (ask for a table with view on the river..); this year there are 3 restaurants, an Italian Trattoria, a Swiss restaurant and a very elegant boat where you can only eat raclette and fondue.. Whether your choice will be, the wines served will make your dinner an experience to share with your friends and remember for a long time.

This event has been organized for the wine importers, therefore it was not like Vinitaly or the Merano Wine Festival where you could have a direct contact with the producers and discuss their products with them directly, but it was a good opportunity to test the passion and competence of some Swiss wine importers, very keen to promote the wines in their portfolio and therefore a very effective marketing tool for the wine producers.

By the way, Italian wines were well represented and I especially liked my visits to the importers Silvino and Bindella! If I had to choose one negative point of the event, I’d say it is a bit difficult to communicate with all importers if you are not a German speaker. But most of them speak English, French or Italian, so in a way or another you get around it.

Wine top 5? Ok, from what I’ve tasted I will not forget these ones:

  • Cà Carnocchio Rosso del Veneto IGT 2005, Le Salette
  • Adrana Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Colline Teramane DOC 2006, Villa Medoro
  • Barolo Prapò DOCG 2003, Bricco Rocche-Ceretto
  • Mersault Blagny “Chateau de Blagny” 1er Cru AC 2006
  • Volnay “En Chevret” 1er Cru AC 2006

I hope to meet you all there next year, as I will go for sure to the “Primavera” edition 17-24 March 2o11 and to the Autumn one, these events are already highlighted in my 2011 agenda 🙂 !  Until the next wine trends experience, enjoy your wines..
